California Proposition 65
Nutrition53 & California’s Proposition 65
At Nutrition53, our top priority is for the health and well-being of our customers. A recent quality assurance analysis conducted by an independent, third-party lab showed that the heavy metal content in the brown rice protein used in Nutrition53 was above levels indicated in previous testing.
These levels are in no way toxic, and Nutrition53 remains completely safe and nutritious. Nutrition53 is not in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements, and is manufactured in FDA-approved facilities that follow federally regulated current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). No changes to our formula are mandated by law, and we stand by the quality and safety of our product.
About Proposition 65
Proposition 65 is a California law enacted in 1986. Fundamentally, the law requires that a warning be provided in situations where someone could be exposed to one of more than 800 listed chemicals or heavy metals above a limit established by the law. A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements, or that the “exposure” from the product exceeds established levels. Nutrition53 contains heavy metals that are included on the Proposition 65 list, so the following warning must be provided:
WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
This warning is triggered by extremely low levels of the regulated compounds, and as such, the notification is a familiar sight to anyone who has eaten at a restaurant, stayed in a hotel, attended a theme park, or parked in a parking garage in California.
